UCI invites member of the Muslim Brotherhood to speak about democracy:

On October 8th the UCI History Department, MESSI, and two UCI research centers are bringing to campus a representative from the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. The event will discuss religion and democracy, and the supposed reformation of the Muslim Brotherhood. This event is one of many programs sponsored by UC Irvine departments which do not offer comprehensive views of the Middle East.Founded in 1928 by the Egyptian activist Hasan al-Banna, the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood is one of the oldest, largest and most influential Islamist organizations. Egypt has historically been the center of the Brotherhood's operations, though the group maintains offshoots throughout the Arab-Muslim world -- including in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, the Palestinian territories (Hamas), Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Sudan -- and is also active in the United States and Europe. Islam expert Robert Spencer has called the Muslim Brotherhood "the parent organization of Hamas and al Qaeda."The Brotherhood was founded in accordance with al-Banna's proclamation that Islam be "given hegemony over all matters of life." Accordingly, the Brotherhood seeks to establish an Islamic Caliphate spanning the entire Muslim world. It also aspires to make Islamic (Shari'a) law the sole basis of jurisprudence and governance.

Terrorism Awareness Project is a program of the David Horowitz Freedom Center.
The war against Islamic jihad and its religion of terror will be decisively won if we both understand the nature of the threat that confronts us and have the will to face it. The Terrorism Awareness Project will assist in achieving both these objectives. Under its banner, college students across America can take their place in defending America, which is under siege both abroad and at home.

Iranians mock Holocaust on annual Jerusalem Day
Source: AFP
TEHRAN (AFP) — Iranians chanted "Death to Israel" on Friday as Islamist students unveiled a book mocking the Holocaust in an Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Day annual parade to show solidarity with the Palestinians.

And in Gaza City, the Islamist Hamas movement that has ruled the impoverished Palestinian territory since June 2007 marked the day by calling for more suicide attacks on Israel.

The book "Holocaust," published by members of Iran's Islamist Basij militia, features dozens of cartoons and sarcastic commentary.

Education Minister Alireza Ali-Ahmadi attended the official launch of the book in Tehran's Palestine Square.

The cover shows a Jew with a crooked nose and dressed in traditional garb drawing outlines of dead bodies on the ground.

Inside, bearded Jews are shown leaving and re-entering a gas chamber with a counter that reads the number 5,999,999.

Another illustration depicts Jewish prisoners entering a furnace in a Nazi extermination camp and leaving from the other side as gun-wielding "terrorists."

Yet another shows a patient draped in an Israeli flag and on life support breathing Zyklon-B, the poisonous gas used in the extermination chambers.

Iran does not recognise the Jewish state, and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has attracted international condemnation by repeatedly predicting Israel is doomed to disappear and branding the Holocaust a "myth."

The commentary inside the book includes anti-Semitic stereotypes and revisionist arguments, casting doubt that the massacre of Jews took place and mocking Holocaust survivors who claimed reparations after World War II.

One comment, in a question-and-answer format, reads: "How did the Germans emit gas into chambers while there were no holes on the ceiling?" Answer: "Shut up, you criminal anti-Semite. How dare you ask this question?"

In 2006, the Islamic republic hosted a conference of Holocaust deniers and revisionists and a mass-circulation Iranian newspaper held a cartoon competition on the subject.

On Friday, tens of thousands of Iranians marched in Tehran, chanting "Death to Israel," declaring solidarity with the Palestinians and calling for Jerusalem and Israel to be handed to the Palestinians.

Demonstrators carried placards bearing slogans including "Israel will be destroyed, Palestine is Victorious" and "Holy war until victory," and they also torched American and Israeli flags.
In Gaza, a Hamas parliamentarian called for more suicide attacks against Israel as thousands of Palestinians marched to mark Al-Quds Day.

"We call on all the factions to undertake efforts to contain the enemy and halt its aggression by planning martyrdom operations," Ahmed Abu Helbiya told a crowd of more than 2,000 protesters.

Friday's Iran protest follows a fresh verbal attack on Israel by Ahmadinejad.
In an address to the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, he said "the Zionist regime is on a definite slope to collapse and there is no way for it to get out of the cesspool created by itself and its supporters."

Quds Day was started by the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, founder of the Islamic republic, who called on the world's Muslims to show solidarity with Palestinians on the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan.

The demonstration was held under an official slogan: "The Islamic world will not recognise the fake Zionist regime under any circumstances and believes that this cancerous tumour will one day be wiped off the face of the earth."

Petition Against Hadith of Hate
Our student leaders have been presenting the Muslim Students Associations at their schools with the petition against the Hadith of Hate. The petition calls upon Muslim Students Associations to repudiate a genocidal Hadith which calls upon Muslims to kill Jews as a path to redemption. This genocidal call of the Prophet Muhammad to kill the Jews was posted by the Muslim Students Association on the official university website of the University of Southern California, until the David Horowitz Freedom Center initiated a protest that prompted university officials to remove it. This demonstrates that our campaign can succeed.

FAR-LEFT IS NEVER GOOD FOR THE JEWS

If you doubt that, take a backwards look (a glance will suffice) at when the furthest left turn yet was made: The Bolshevik Revolution and its end result THE SOVIET UNION.

Granted things were not good at all under the czars. Pogroms, cossacks, and the white-hot hatred of the Russians for Jews. But, did the Communist Revolution, the implementation of pure Marxism make it better for the Jews?

Cosmetically it looked good for the Jews--everyone was equal to everyone else, all "workers," all voices raised in a world-shattering choir singing the "Internationale."

The major raison for Jew-hatred--the Christian religion, and the belief that "the Jews" crucified "their"--the Christian's-- Saviour was gone. No more religion, "we're all equal now."

But the Russians still hated the Jews. The Communist government did not like the Jews any better than the Russian people, although there were Jews in it--Jews in ancestry only, to be sure--and when the chance came for Jews to finally leave "the Motherland," they did--in droves (for Israel and the United States).

Communism may be good for the Communist Jews, in the short run. In the long run, the Communist Jews were still considered as Jews, although they may have thought of themselves as "international" or "global," identifiable only with the rest of the proletariat.

WHAT'S THIS GOT TO DO WITH US RIGHT NOW?

Plenty, because the Obama Machine, fronted by the dapperly-suited "Middle-Class appearing" but neither-this-nor-that Barack Hussein Obama, is following the blueprint by the Communist Jews Saul Alinsky (see what happened to the Communist Jews in the Soviet Union, alluded to above).

The Alinsky blueprint--get POWER via the Middle Class--get 'em on your side, then use "em to get the ultimate POWER, the Government of the United States."

Once you got that, with a Democrat Congress and the path cleared for a Left supreme Court, you've got the entire United states to do with as you wish.

Impossible? A looser interpretation of the Constitution, it no longer is iron-clad with Amendments necessary to change an iota of it? Impossible? Don't bet on it.

You can, if you've got a good kop, see where this is leading. The Americans--not the foreign Barack Hussein Obama ideologues, un-American in beliefs--will blame their iron-fettered existence in an a la Hugo-Chavez-in-Venezuela type of quasi (at first) dictatorship of the Left-- President, Congress, and supreme Court--on --You guessed it! The Jews.

The Americans, the people whom Jews should be part of, should, because being part of them is the only way to survive what is coming, will not take kindly to what is coming (what's that? see WHY DOES AN ISLAM-RESISTING BLOG WARN AMERICANS AGAINST OBAMA? )

You see, a Dictatorship (overt or covert or even clandestine) of the Left--viz Chavez in Venezuela, Castro in Cuba, etc.--is never good for the Jews.

Neither is a Dictatorship of the Right--although these in recent history have started with Socialism (Mussolini, Hitler--the only Fascist right from the start being Franco in Spain).

Message to Obama and his ilk should be: "ver tsuzetst!" although I would like it to be, but cannot express because of his position already, the more a propos "ver g---"

FAR-LEFT IS NEVER GOOD FOR THE JEWS. Obama is FAR LEFT.

[ . . . difficult to decide--against the Obama Machine, when your very being tells you to be a Liberal? Well, who said it should be easy? It is, as it always has been--since even before Moses-shvertz azayan Yid.]

ADDENDUM

from "The 2008 Election: The Defining Line for American Jews"

(You owe it to yourself to read this entire piece)

The assimilationist agenda of liberal American Jewry has metastasized with each succeeding generation to produce two Jewish Americas, one of committed religious Jews and one that has reduced Jewishness to an ethnic joke in the service of a liberal creed.

A river now flows between us and many of those on the other side of the river are not even Jewish in the ethnic sense and few are religious in any sense. Their belief system is liberalism, their synagogue is the activist's bus, their prayer book was written by Saul Alinsky and their messiah is Barack Hussein Obama.

I have never had much in common with their kind, but today I have nothing in common with them at all, for the commonality of a people must be based on a mutual commitment to that people, and in their list of commitments Jews come worse than last, not simply neglected but sacrificed time and time again on the altar of liberalism.

Whether it is bus bombs going off in Israel or rioting mobs besieging the Jewish community of Crown Heights, time and time again they have stood with the Arafat's and Dinkins', the Sharptons' and Abbas' over their own brothers, which makes them no brothers of mine.

Israeli Idiocy No. 2 - More: IDF finalizes new PA Hebron deployment

IDF finalizes new PA Hebron deployment

Oct. 7, 2008
Yaakov Katz , THE JERUSALEM POST

Brig.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai, the head of the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria, will meet next week with his Palestinian counterpart to discuss a request to move up the planned deployment of a company of PA soldiers in Hebron.

The move, first reported in The Jerusalem Post three weeks ago, has drawn the ire of settlers from Gush Etzion and the South Hebron Hills, who held an emergency meeting Tuesday morning to discuss the "irresponsible and dangerous" move.

South Hebron Hills Regional Council head Tzvika Bar-Hai told the Post that Palestinians from Hebron had long been involved in terrorist attacks throughout Israel and that this new plan would only further endanger Israeli lives. "The writing is on the wall," he said.

On Tuesday morning, Bar-Hai hastily called a meeting of local leaders, activists and rabbis in his office so that they could organize to combat the plan. In the next few days they plan to lobby politicians against the initiative and they have asked for a meeting with Defense Minister Barak.

The settlers also issued a press statement signed by a wide range of settler leaders from Efrat Chief Rabbi Shlomo Riskin to far-right activist Baruch Marzel of Hebron.

The decision to permit the deployment - there are already more than 2,000 Palestinian Authority soldiers and policemen in Hebron - was made last month by OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Gadi Shamni as part of an Israeli effort to bolster PA President Mahmoud Abbas.

Abbas is scheduled to finish his term as president on January 9, and in the absence of new elections - due to the Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip - Abbas, according to the PA constitution, will be replaced by the speaker of the PA parliament, Abdel Aziz Dweik, a senior Hamas official currently in an Israeli prison.

Abbas, however, is looking for ways to extend his term. The IDF and the PA are concerned that Abbas's refusal to hand over the reins could set off clashes in the West Bank between Fatah and Hamas.

As a result, the IDF has agreed to allow a platoon of close to 200 Palestinian soldiers to deploy in Hebron, to be used by the PA to crack down on Hamas operatives and infrastructure in the city.

In a letter sent to Barak on Tuesday, the settler leadership in Hebron slammed the initiative, warning of a rise in terrorism if more PA soldiers are allowed into the city.

"Transferring security over Hebron to the Fatah terrorists will endanger the lives of the thousands who live here and the hundreds of thousands of Jews who regularly come to the city's holy sites," the leaders wrote to Barak.

Initially, the soldiers were planned to deploy in Hebron after completing their US-backed training in Jordan in late December.

A defense official said on Tuesday, however, that the Palestinians had now asked to transfer troops from other parts of the West Bank to Hebron as soon as possible, i.e. later this month. A final decision is expected following the meeting next week between Mordechai and PA Civil Affairs Minister Hussein a-Sheikh.

Defense Ministry officials initially opposed the deployment in Hebron, out of fear that the presence of armed PA soldiers would escalate tensions with the Jewish community in the city. Palestinian assurances that the soldiers would not patrol near the Jewish neighborhoods paved the way for Shamni's approval.

The request to deploy soldiers in Hebron was made by PA Prime Minister Salaam Fayad and is based on the "Jenin model," under which Palestinian troops deployed in large numbers there earlier this year and the IDF scaled back its operations in the vicinity.

In addition, Israel eased travel restrictions in northern Samaria and has started allowing Israeli Arabs to visit Jenin in an effort to rehabilitate its weakened economy.

Nevertheless, IDF troops operated in Jenin early Wednesday morning and discovered six pipe bombs and a 13-cm. knife. Shots were fired at the troops during the raid but no one was wounded.

The convenient war against the Jews

Our World: The convenient war against the Jews

" . . . if Israel is destroyed, the West won't be able to depend on us Jews to
fight and die for them anymore. They will be all alone
."
-from the following article

Our World: The convenient war against the Jews
Caroline Glick , THE JERUSALEM POST Oct. 6, 2008
www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1222017478856&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

In the end, the global jihad, and the West's fickle response to radical
Islam's assault on its civilization, is about hating Jews. This truth, never
wholly hidden from view, was exposed in all its ugliness in recent months
with startling disclosures by former Italian president and Senator-for-life
Francesco Cossiga.

In a letter to Italy's Corriere della Serra in August, Cossiga acknowledged
that during the early 1970s, then Italian prime minister Aldo Moro signed an
agreement with Yassir Arafat's PLO and affiliated organizations that enabled
the Palestinians to field terrorists, operate bases and store weapons in
Italy in exchange for immunity from attack for Italy and Italian interests
worldwide. Cossiga also acknowledged that even when the Palestinians
murdered Italians, the government still protected them. Indeed, he admitted
for the first time that the largest terror attack ever to take place on
Italian soil - the bombing of the Bologna train station in July 1980 which
killed 85 people - was the work of PLO-affiliated terrorists from George
Habash's Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

At the time of the bombing, Cossiga was Italy's prime minister. Right after
it occurred, he blamed the atrocity on neo-fascists. In his words at the
time, "Unlike leftist terrorism, which strikes at the heart of the state
through its representatives, black terrorism prefers the massacre because it
promotes panic and impulsive reactions."

In August, he claimed that it was the work of the PFLP and asserted that the
bomb exploded inadvertently. That is, the Palestinians hadn't meant to kill
non-Jews - so Italian authorities protected them.

On Friday, Cossiga expanded on his disclosures to Corriere della Serra in an
interview with Yediot Aharonot's Rome correspondent Menachem Ganz. Cossiga
admitted that it wasn't just Israeli targets that Italy permitted the
Palestinians to attack with impunity, but Jewish targets as well. Indeed, in
at least one and probably two incidents, the Italians colluded with the
Palestinians in their attacks against Jews. On October 9, 1982, six
terrorists opened fire on worshippers leaving Rome's Great Synagogue. Dozens
of Jews were wounded and two-year-old Stefano Tache was murdered. Hours
before the attack the Italian police detail charged with securing the
synagogue was withdrawn.

Then too, in December 1985, Palestinian terrorists opened fire on the El Al
ticket counter at the Rome airport. Ten people were killed. Another seven
people were murdered in a simultaneous attack against the El Al ticket
counter at the Vienna airport. According to Cossiga, Italian intelligence
agencies received prior warning of the attack but didn't bother to share the
information with Israel.

Cossiga explained to Yediot, "No Italian targets were hit. They attacked the
Israeli airline at the airport. The murdered were all Israelis, Jews, and
Americans."

Then there was the hijacking of the Italian cruise liner Achille Lauro off
the Egyptian coast in October 1985. Palestinian terrorists led by Abu Abbas
commandeered the ship. They shot wheelchair-bound American Jewish passenger
Leon Klinghoffer and threw him overboard while he was still alive. The
Egyptians freed the hijackers and sent them off on a flight to Libya.
American jets forced a plane to land at a NATO base in Sicily. The Italians
refused to permit the Americans to take the hijackers into custody and freed
Abbas. The Italians cast the standoff as a victory against American bullies.
But it really amounted to a surrender to Palestinian murderers. As Cossiga
explained, "Since the Arabs were capable of harming Italy more than the
Americans, Italy surrendered to them."

COSSIGA ALLEGES that his country's agreement with the Palestinians has
recently been expanded to include Hizbullah. After the Second Lebanon War,
Italy agreed to command the UNIFIL force charged with preventing Hizbullah
from reasserting control over southern Lebanon and blocking its re-armament
efforts. Yet Cossiga asserts, "I can state with absolute certainty that.
Italy has a deal with Hizbullah according to which UNIFIL forces turn a
blind eye to Hizbullah's rearmament so long as no attacks are carried out
against soldiers in the force."

Ganz notes ruefully that although Cossiga's statements provoked the Italian
Jewish community to demand that Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi investigate
the government's collusion with Palestinian terrorists, no such
investigation is likely to be forthcoming. Ganz explains that Berlusconi
himself is not immune to the anti-Semitism that caused his predecessors to
abstain from protecting Italy's Jewish citizens. When he addresses Italian
Jews, Berlusconi often calls the Israeli government "your government," and
so exposes his adherence to the view that Jews are not true citizens of any
country other than Israel.

The anti-Semitic belief that all Jews are Zionists and therefore all Jews
are fair game in the war against Israel - itself simply another round of the
age-old war against the Jews - allows anti-Semites to obfuscate the fact
that their anti-Israel rhetoric is simply warmed over Jew-hatred. People
like Iranian leaders Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Ali Khamenei, and Palestinian
terrorists from the PLO and their progeny in Hamas and Hizbullah nearly
always limit their threats to "Zionists," and so pretend that they aren't
actually anti-Semites.

Their razor-thin deception is eagerly embraced by their fellow travelers in
the West - from university professors like Juan Cole, Steven Walt and John
Mearshimer, to policymakers like Brent Scowcroft and Zbigniew Brzezinski, to
Western decision-makers and European heads of state, and an alarming number
of American politicians.

This deception is par for the course of anti-Semitism. Throughout history
anti-Semites have used Jew-hatred as a way to rally their troops. By
attacking Jews as the collective enemy, tyrants have given their people a
convenient, weak culprit to attack to deflect criticism away from their own
failures or to hide real enemies from pacifistic publics uninterested in
fighting. Anti-Semitism appeals to people's basest instinct. But people
don't like to acknowledge how much they hate Jews, and Jews have always
preferred to deny that they are hated.

So anti-Semitic leaders have disguised their appeal to base instinct by
pretending that they are actually appealing to sublime aspirations. In the
case of the Nazis for instance, Adolf Hitler and Josef Goebbels appealed to
Germanic pride and love for the Fatherland. Today, the Left appeals to
people's aspirations for peace and justice. It is only by permitting and
indeed enabling Jews to die and the Jewish state to be destroyed that
"peace" can be secured and the Palestinians can receive "justice."

THIS STRATEGY appeals to European - and to greater and lesser degrees
American - policymakers for two reasons. First, as French Foreign Minister
Bernard Kouchner made clear in an interview with Ha'aretz on Friday, while
the West understands that Islamic jihadists seek the destruction of Europe
and the US, they believe - in part because their own anti-Semitism leads
them to exaggerate Jewish power - that they will get away with coddling the
Arabs and Iran because Israel will protect them.

Referring to Iran's nuclear weapons program, Kouchner said that no one is
particularly worried about Iran's nuclear threat because everyone believes
that Israel will attack Iran for them. In his words, "I honestly don't
believe that [a nuclear arsenal] will give any immunity to Iran. First, you
[Israel] will hit them before [they acquire nuclear weapons]. Because Israel
has always said that it will not wait for the bomb to be ready. I think that
they [the Iranians] know. Everybody knows."

What is ironic about this view is that it exposes the inversion of
anti-Semitic rhetoric. Five years ago, former Malaysian prime minister
Mahathir Mohamed told an approving audience of Islamic heads of state, "The
Jews rule the world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them."

But the West's belief that Israel will protect it from Iran shows that the
opposite is true. The West is absolutely certain that Israel is its proxy,
and that Jews will fight and die protecting it from the forces of global
terror and jihad.

THE SECOND reason the Western champions of "peace" have opted to sell Israel
and the Jews out to the jihadists is because as anti-Semites, Western
"anti-Zionists" fear Jewish power and therefore want us to be weak. So it is
that for the past 40 years, European governments and the US State Department
have bankrolled anti-Zionist groups in Israel like Peace Now, B'tselem and
Four Mothers. So it is that they have blamed Israel for Palestinian
terrorism. And even when Israel succumbs to all their demands for
territorial withdrawals, they always manage to demand still more.

In the same interview with Ha'aretz for instance, Kouchner on the one hand
praised Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni for
their willingness to surrender Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria to the
Palestinians, but argued that this is still not enough. Israel must also
accept the free immigration of the hostile descendants of the Arabs who left
Israel in 1948. That is, Israel must also agree to its own destruction in
order to pave the way for "peace." In his words, "The main problem is the
refugees and Jerusalem, but more the refugees. Olmert and Livni do not have
the perception of this."

Kouchner for one is certain that Livni will come around to recognizing the
need to allow hostile foreign-born Arabs to move here. "I think she will
change. This is always the case for people that are in charge for politics
and for life," he claimed.

Kouchner soothed the reporters' fears of national destruction by claiming
that he's probably not talking about more than 100,000 hostile Arabs
immigrants. But that's today.

If Livni does form a government and comes around to this view, leave it to
the West to explain that placing "arbitrary" limits on Arab immigration is a
human rights abuse, and that Israel's Zionist racism is compelling the Arabs
and Iran to kill Jews and Westerners around the world.

AND THIS brings us to perhaps the greatest irony of the West's collusion
with the Arabs and Iran in their war against the Jews. The logical outcome
of the twin delusions of anti-Semitism - that Jews are all powerful and that
the Jews must be cut down to size - is the destruction of Israel. And if
that happens, the West will find itself in jaws of the Islamic jihadists
they have been feeding the Jews to for four decades.

The West's subversion of the Israeli elite has fomented a situation where
many Israeli leaders have embraced their anti-Semitic views of Israel.
Leaders like Livni and Olmert, and the media and academia in Israel, have
largely accepted the notion that Israel is to blame for the global jihad.
Today these leaders uphold Jewish weakness as an ideal. The longer these
Western-supported elites remain in power, the larger the chance that Israel
won't attack Iran and that Israel will allow itself to be destroyed in the
interest of pursuing "peace" with Palestinian terrorists.

And if Israel is destroyed, the West won't be able to depend on us Jews to
fight and die for them anymore. They will be all alone.

A new public relations campaign that invites the public to explore Judea and
Samaria got off to a rocky start this week when vandals scrawled left-wing
graffiti across large billboards it had placed in communities such as
Sderot, Ramat Hasharon and Bnei Brak.

In one instance, the words "Murderers" and "Avengers of Sternhell" were
scrawled next to a smiling face of a biblical looking child holding a sheep
and in another vandals had written "End the Occupation."

The campaign's director, Yakir Segev, called on the public to refrain from
resorting to vandalism and to maintain a level of civil discourse even if
they disagreed with the campaign.

"Apparently the campaign has upset the extremists," said Segev. He added
that he intended to file a police complaint.

As a secular Israeli who lives in Jerusalem and who has no intention of
moving to Judea and Samaria, Segev, 31, is not a typical representative of
the settler movement. And that, he told The Jerusalem Post on Monday, is
exactly why he is the right person to head the public relations initiative
by the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip.

Launched last week under the slogan "Yehuda and Shomron: Every Jew's Story,"
the initiative, which is under the direction of a newly created office
called "The Public Relations Administration," intends to veer away from
political attacks or security arguments, explained Segev.

It has one simple goal: to remind all Israelis about the importance of the
West Bank to Jews from a historical and cultural perspective. Already its
Web site has a list of tours it is hosting during Succot to help the Israeli
public learn about important Jewish heritage sites in the West Bank such as
Hebron, Herodian and Shiloh, where the Ark of the Covenant was housed until
it was taken by the Philistines.

Important Jewish history happened there, said Segev, but the modern
political debate has obscured that essential reason why Judea and Samaria
are important to Israel, he said.

"It is our land and that has its own value," said Segev.

As the former head of the Hebrew University's student union and a veteran of
the Second Lebanon War who helped lead the reservists' protests immediately
afterwards, he is not new to activism. But this is one of his first stands
in support of his right-wing ideology.

The hope, Segev said, was that if people were more familiar with Judea and
Samaria, then they would understand what was in danger of being lost when
the government speaks of giving up 100 meters here or there over the
pre-1967 border, said Segev.

Israeli society has moved to the Left precisely because it did not
understand this, said Segev.

In the past the Right had assumed that this argument would not secure the
support of mainstream Israeli society and it had therefore focused on
security as the essential reason why Israel should hold on to Judea and
Samaria.

"That was a mistake," said Segev. In launching this initiative, Segev said,
the aim is not to call on people to attend protest rallies or even to move
to Judea and Samaria.

"We are inviting the mainstream Israeli public to come and learn more about
this critical area," said Segev.

It has a history that has touched every Jew, he added. Most Jews around the
world light Hanukka candles without ever connecting it to a series of events
that took place in Judea, said Segev.

Even if one did not believe in a literal translation of the Bible, one had
to acknowledge that it was an important part of Jewish heritage and
tradition and as a result the region it described had value to the Jewish
people today, said Segev.

But Hagit Ofran of Peace Now said she did not believe the initiative would
be able to sway the public. The campaign was misguided and missed the point,
she said. No one is arguing about whether or not Jewish history happened
there, she said. While that was obvious, it did not mean it was wise to hold
onto it now or that retaining it was worth the price of occupation, said
Ofran.
[Comment: Occupation by Arabs?]

"They are investing much money in bringing people, but I'm not sure it's
going to change minds. People might come and see what we see, which is
occupation," she said.

But not everyone had a problem with the initiative. Among the many groups
which have agreed to host joint activities is the Society for the
Preservation of Nature in Israel. SPNI has several field schools in Judea
and Samaria, with whose help many area tours have been organized for the
initiative.

An SPNI spokesman said it did not see any difference between its loose
involvement in this campaign and its past activity in the West Bank where it
has historically led treks and taught about nature and Jewish history.

Israeli Idiocy No. 2 (continued) - PA official: Israel has agreed to allow over 1,000 PA troops into Hebron

PA official: Israel has agreed to allow over 1,000 PA troops into Hebron (peak Jewish tourism presence)

[Dr. Aaron Lerner - IMRA:

Question: How many minutes did the Israelis think before apparently
agreeing to the deployment of over 1,00 armed PA troops to Hebron the very
week that Jewish tourism to Hebron will be at one of its seasonal peaks
(Succoth)?

Answer: The question is based on a false assumption. That someone "thought"
altogether.]

'Israel has agreed to allow PA troops into Hebron'
Senior Palestinian defense official tells Ynet Israel has authorized request
by Palestinian Authority to deploy security forces in Hebron in effort to
block Hamas' growing influence over the city. Hamas, meanwhile, passed
legislation calling for elections to replace Abbas

Israel is backing a bid by the Palestinian Authority to reassert control
over Hebron, a senior Palestinian defense official told Ynet on Monday
evening. According to the official Israel has authorized the request made by
the PA to deploy security forces in the West Bank city as part of the effort
to push back Hamas, which is poised to seize control there.

At present time Israel has yet to confirm such an agreement.

According to the source the deployment will be carried out as soon as next
week, around October 15th. The Palestinian force will be comprised of more
than 1,000 armed men. Israel has so far authorized the deployment of 250
members of the Presidential Guard and an identical number of police
officers. The PA is hoping to add another 500 troops from the national
force.

The unique force will be tasked with battling Hamas' extensive political
efforts, which have been picking up speed as the Palestinians head to the
ballots in early January to replace President Mahmoud Abbas, whose term is
ending. Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad's is concerned Hamas will
take advantage of the unrest pervading the streets during the elections.

The Palestinian request was communicated through discreet channels to senior
diplomatic figures in Jerusalem. The proposal was also discussed in Fayyad's
meetings with US Special Envoy for Middle East Security, General James
Jones.

Fayyad pointed to Hebron as the city most likely to fall into Hamas' grip.
The Islamic movement, which seized control of the Gaza Strip in a bloody
coup last year, poses a threat to the Palestinian Authority's rule in the
West Bank.

The London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper quoted Hamas leader and former
Palestinian foreign affairs minister, Mahmoud Al-Zahar, on Saturday as
warning the PA the Islamist group would fight back.

"It is clear that these security operations are intended to oppress Hamas,
but they will only bring about the opposite," he vowed.

Hamas: We'll replace Abbas

Meanwhile Hamas said it would cease to recognize Abbas as Palestinian
president when his term ends on Jan. 8th and replace him with one of its own
leaders, according to a resolution approved by the Islamic movement's
legislators Monday.

The Hamas resolution demands that Abbas issue a decree by Wednesday to hold
new presidential elections within three months. Abbas aides said the
resolution appeared aimed at stepping up pressure on the president, a
political moderate, ahead of a new attempt by Egypt to mediate a
power-sharing deal between the two rival camps and is certain to deepen the
split between Hamas and Abbas' Fatah movement.

"I believe Hamas is coming to this point just to undermine the national
dialogue before it starts in Cairo," said Abbas aide Nimer Hamad referring
to the Egyptian-brokered talks, expected to start next month.

If Abbas does not step aside in January, Hamas says it will install deputy
parliament speaker Ahmed Bahar of Hamas as Abbas' temporary successor until
elections are held.

The job would normally go to the parliament speaker, Abdel Aziz Dueik, but
he is in an Israeli jail, along with scores of other Hamas lawmakers from
the West Bank. Bahar said Monday he would accept the job, if asked.

The resolution left a loophole, suggesting that Abbas' term could be
extended by parliament if deemed to be in the "national interest."

Israel Idiocy No.2 - Hebron Security Turned Over to Fatah Murderers

The Jewish Community of Hebron: Don't again abandon Hebron to Fatah terrorists

Don't again abandon Hebron to Fatah terrorists

Don't again abandon Hebron to Fatah terrorists

We were astounded and stunned to learn of plans to transfer security of the
city of Hebron to the Fatah and Tanzim terrorists, a.k.a. 'the Palestinian
authority.'

We warn: similar actions in the past always led to terrible bloodshed. These
terrorists are notoriously known as criminal and terror gangs, whose nature
has already been proven from previous murderous terror activity.

The infant Shalhavet Pass HY'D, was murdered by a terrorist identified with
the Palestinian authority, and was trained by them as a sniper.

Twelve warriors, among them the Commander of the Hebron Brigade, Col Dror
Weinberg, HY"D, fell as a result of transfer of security of Hebron to the PA
in 2002. Another eleven Jews were murdered a week later when Bus 20 exploded
in Jerusalem as a result of the reckless plan called 'Judea first.' A wave
of terror swept through all of Israel, as terrorists from Hebron reached as
far away as Haifa, all as a result of removal of IDF troops from Hebron and
transfer of security authority to the PA.

The most recent victims of Arab terror from our vicinity, David Rubin and
Achikam Amichai HY"D, were killed less than a year ago by PA policemen.

Transfer of security responsibility into the hands of Fatah terrorists will
endanger the lives of thousands in the Hebron region, of hundreds of
thousands who arrive to visit the holy sites in the city of the Patriarchs
and Matriarchs, and the lives of all the citizens of Israel wherever they
are.

Anyone and everyone who participate in this derelict, irresponsible act will
not be able to say, "Our hands have not spilled this blood."
